Oklahoma.... Part 1

Well, this trip started with myself, Sterling, and David. We left Biloxi on Wednesday afternoon. This was an interesting drive as Sterling slept in the back for majority of the trip, and David nd myself drove. We felt like we were in the movie twister as we drove thru some rough storms. The highways were covered with flooding water as we had no visibility thru the pouring rain. But we made it to Durant that night. During the drive, David and myself also tweeted at people trying to get a team competition for the whole series. We got 4 suckers/2 teams to partake in this. We had two headsup bets vs our asian friends AP and Huy and vs these other two guys Jody and Nick.We actually went straight to the casino to get our player cards made and register for the first tournament on the next day. We then checked into our Holiday Inn Express and got situated in our king suite. David and Sterling got a little closer and shared the king as I slept on my air mattress.

Well, we got up a little late the next day and we all got ready and made over to the casino to take our seats in the first ring event. David and Sterling were seated at the same table side by side ironically(I'm sure they talked strategy in bed the night before ;) ). Well, this tourney didn't go my way from start to finish. I never got over starting stack, but I grinned it out. I got down to 3k from 10k pretty quickly and managed to get close to starting stack before losing a flip with A10 vs 99. I was the first to hit up the cash room. This scene was definitely a gold mine. I jumped in this PLO game and played it for a little while before Sterling joined me after he busted out. We both played in the PLO game for a while as I lost a little bit and he won a little. Then we left to go to this steak house to eat with our friend, AP. We all enjoyed a good steak as I got a peppered ribeye. The meal got better when we opted to play a random game for the bill(AP's game of choice). We each selected a bottle of steak sauce as Sterling went first and took Heinz 57, I took the Worchester, and AP took A1. We had the waitress pick one of the sauces and she chose Heinz 57 and we all were excited me and AP knowing Sterling lost and was paying for our $80 dinner, but Sterling was excited thinking he was safe since she picked his. We laughed at him and said good game sir. We headed back to the casino and eventually, David would bust and we headed back to hotel.

The next day was Friday, day 1 of the 500k guarantee of the reentry tournament. This was one of the two major tournaments why we all came to Oklahoma.  Well, we all jumped in the first flight of 4 possible flights. Like the first tourney, I didn't ever get over the starting 10k stack and busted fairly quickly. Sterling followed me out fairly quickly as well. We both hit up the cash games some before trying the second flight at 5pm. I got stuck in the cash games again even after I gave someone the worst beat in my life. I raised $15 in a $2/$5 game from UTG+1 with 88 and it folded around to BB who called. Flop came out Q104hhx. He check/called my $20 cbet. Turn was 8h, and he checked/raised me from $45 to $90 with $150 behind. I called and the river was another 8 and bet $60 and tanked called my shove. He flashed QQ and said I knew I should have folded. But ya, I jumped in PLO game and ended up stuck prolly $500 before late regging the 5pm flight. I jumped in it and got off to a better start as I got up to 18k from 12k starting stack(SS) at the first break. The next 4 levels went the same way the first 4 did, and I had 42k at second break coming back to 25 250/500. I went on a quick rush at this table from playing real well and having people punt their stack off to me and I peeked at 120k in this level. The next few levels didn't go as well and I lost some races and 60/40s and had prolly 90k going into the last few levels of the day. I ended up playing well and chipping up to 145k before we bagged for the night. In the process of chipping up, I was able to bust our friend/opponent of our team bets, Huy. AQ>AK aipf for his 10bbs. I jokingly sang him the hey, hey, hey goodbye song before and as the Q flashed in the window of the flop. He smiled as he busted and knew it was all fun and games with our prop bet for the series. But I ended the night and day with a top 10 stack and was excited to have Saturday off and watch football. Roommate and partner in team bets, David, was able to make it through as well, but in the first flight on only one shell. Sterling unfortunately busted for a second time and had to play again Saturday at noon.
